This position performs technical and skilled work to operate and maintain the Hillsborough’s water treatment plant in compliance with municipal regulatory requirements, maintain water quality and pressure, and provide safe drinking water to the Hillsborough community. This position may be filled at the Trainee, Operator I, Operator II, or Operator III level.
Located in the heart of Moore County, Carthage is experiencing continued growth and investment. The Town is seeking a planner who can provide professional guidance on development, zoning, land use policy, community planning, and economic development initiatives. Working under the direction of the Town Manager, the Planner serves as a key advisor to the Town Council and Planning Board.
Performs difficult professional work handling a variety of assignments in the Planning Department including: interpreting and enforcing zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations and watershed protection ordinance, wireless telecommunication ordinances, preparing ordinance amendments, attending meetings, conducting research, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work.
Under general supervision, performs specialized plan review for residential, commercial, and other occupancy types. Supports administration of the minimum housing code and conducts field inspections of new, existing, and remodeled construction. Reviews building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and structural plans for compliance with State and Town codes.
