FEMA Public Assistance & Disaster Recovery Training
Recover Faster. Protect Your Local Budget.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance program is the agency largest reimbursement program and critical for helping communities recover after disaster. In North Carolina, the program is managed by North Carolina Emergency Management and intends to offer federal disaster assistance for response, recovery, and mitigation to eligible local governments that are within declared disaster areas and have reached certain levels of damage to public assets and facilities from a recent natural disaster. Utilizing the program requires significant preparation and staff capacity but can ensure that there are substantially less local financial resources allocated to address damage.
To help member governments navigate the Public Assistance program while responding and recovering from natural disasters, Central Pines Regional Council is offering a six-hour eLearning course designed to equip local communities with the knowledge and tools they need to prepare for significant disaster emergency events, reduce recovery time, and increase response rates while recouping valuable resources.
Course modules will cover:
- Secure disaster recovery funds aligned with local and regional priorities
- Build and strengthen financial systems for efficient fund management and reporting
- Incorporate recovery planning into everyday financial administration
Each user license provides individual access to the course for one learner through June 2026. The course can be taken at the user’s pace and includes learning activities, assessments, and a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
