Durham, NC — The Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) Board of Delegates has appointed its Board Officers for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, including Wake County Commissioner Susan Evans as Board Chair. In this role, Chair Evans will lead the Board in shaping policy direction, maintaining regional focus, fostering trust and engagement across communities, and ensuring that the Regional Council’s mission—to advance the success and sustainability of local governments—is upheld across all programs and initiatives.
The Board Officers are appointed each year by the 50-member Central Pines Regional Council Board of Delegates. The Board is represented by one elected official from each of Central Pines' fifty local government members across the region.
The FY 25–26 Board Officers are:
- Chair: Susan Evans, County Commissioner, Wake County
- First Vice Chair: Sheveil Harmon, Commissioner, Town of Angier
- Second Vice Chair: Chris Deshazor, Councilmember, Town of Holly Springs
- Secretary/Treasurer: Katy Garcia, Councilmember, Town of Micro

Together, these leaders will play a vital role in guiding CPRC’s mission to strengthen regional collaboration and support local governments through shared planning and service delivery. The new officers will officially begin their roles in August, with the first Board meeting of the Fiscal Year scheduled for Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00 PM at the CPRC Office.
July 1, also marks the end of Byron McAllister, Mayor, Town of Selma, serving as Board Chair during FY 25–26. Under his leadership, the organization made notable strides, including moving closer to 100% membership among eligible local governments, while also adopting an aggressive Strategic Plan to guide the organization over the next three years.
“I appreciate all that Central Pines Regional Council does to support the counties and municipalities in our region. Having served as Wake County’s delegate to CPRC for several years, I am honored to step into the role of Chair of this board” said incoming Chair Susan Evans.
“I look forward to fruitful collaboration with the elected leaders from throughout the region who are delegates to this group. As we continue to grapple with growth and change, CPRC provides a forum for collective insight around regional planning and effective government services. I commend outgoing Chair, Byron McAllister, for his excellent leadership throughout the past year. I look forward to working with the CPRC staff and board in this role as we focus on ways to provide relevant service to our greater Triangle region.”
The Central Pines Regional Council Board consists of elected and appointed representatives from 50 member governments across the region. The Board meets regularly to provide directions on strategic priorities, programs, and services that benefit communities in the Central Pines region.
